20 Affirmations For Overcoming Challenges

 

 

 

 

A few weeks ago, I shared a post with you about an amazing workshop I attended on how to unleash your inner superstar by stepping out of our comfort zones. After writing that post, it inspired me to create this one all about positive self-talk and affirmations we can use to motivate ourselves to do what we set out to do. 

 

 

 

Here are 20 positive affirmations I came up with to overcome personal challenges:

 

 

  1. I'm a fighter.
  2. I have the power to change my situation.
  3. I'm deserving of a clean, safe space.
  4. I smile at a challenge.
  5. I am taking baby steps every day.
  6. I will start NOW.
  7. Everything I do leads to a better tomorrow.
  8. I can do hard things.
  9. I am worth more than my stuff.
  10. I try again.
  11. I am a problem solver.
  12. I aim for progress over perfection.
  13. My courage is stronger than my fear.
  14. I try different strategies.
  15. I'm proud of my efforts.
  16. I choose to be organized.
  17. I can get through it.
  18. I am willing and capable.
  19. I can do anything for 5-minutes.
  20. All of my problems have solutions.

  • I LOVE your list, Sarah! So many caught my eye, but there was something about #8 that especially resonated with me. When I think that I can't do something, I remember that I CAN do hard things and I HAVE done hard things. We have the resources within but sometimes need that reminder. The other one that has helped me in many situations is the this one..."Focus on a learning, not performance agenda." This one came from my friend and colleague, Andrea Sharb. We can be so hard on ourselves when we're learning or trying something new. The learning focus is so helpful.

  • Love these affirmations! My favorite is I can get through it. No matter what struggle I have, I get through it. By saying this, it brings me down to earth and gets me moving again instead of feeling defeated.

    • @Sabrina Quairoli : I agree that "I can get through it" is a powerful affirmation. It's a good reminder that nothing lasts forever and that there will be an end in sight!

  • Wow, so many of these resonate. You could take one a week and tape it up to ponder. #2 is probably my favorite. We may not be in a position to make our environment perfect (or as we dream it), but we can make changes. We can make improvements. We are not powerless. Great post!
