What is the process for setting up an appointment?

If you are interested in setting up an appointment, you can contact COC either by email or phone. After a brief phone conversation with Sarah to ensure that COC is a good fit for your mental health needs, a 1-hour intake appointment will be scheduled. During the intake, you will have the opportunity to review information about yourself and your current challenges and discuss treatment options. Treatment recommendations are made and the therapy schedule is then coordinated. In the event that you need to cancel, we request 24-hours notice prior to your scheduled appointment. No-shows will be billed for half the full session rate.

Where do appointments take place?

My office is located at 433 Silas Deane Highway, 2nd floor, Wethersfield, CT. The intake meeting and in-office therapy sessions will take place here. Given that the nature of hoarding disorder has to do with people’s clutter accumulation in their living spaces, in-home sessions will take place throughout the treatment process.

What are your office hours?

Sarah has evening appointments on Mondays & Thursdays and availability on Saturdays.

How often does one come for therapy?

Typically people attend therapy sessions on a weekly basis. In-office sessions at COC are 50-minutes in duration. In-home sessions last 2-hours. A combination of both in-office and in-home sessions is part of the treatment process. Sarah tries to meet the needs of her clients by customizing therapy based on the severity of issues and if there are any immediate safety concerns in the home. Thus, more intensive therapy is available if needed.

Do you take insurance?

COC does not purposefully accept or participate in any insurance programs because of the limitation insurance companies place on providers and clients. However, Sarah can provide receipts that can be submitted to your insurance plan if you have out-of-network benefits. In addition, many insurance plans offer Flexible Healthcare Spending Accounts that can be used to cover therapy. Please note that Sarah cannot guarantee your coverage or reimbursement. It is encouraged that you discuss these options directly with your insurance provider.

Some questions to ask your insurance company about out-of-network benefits are:

Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

Is pre-approval required before obtaining mental health treatment in order to be reimbursed? (Sarah's State of CT License: LCSW 006431)

Will I be reimbursed the full amount or only a portion?

Do I have a deductible and if yes, what is the cap?

What are the benefits to paying out of pocket for your services?

There are many! First, you can start right away as with self-payment for services, there is no waiting period or red tape to work through in verifying insurance coverage. Second, we can work together to determine a personalized treatment plan best suited for your needs without influence from insurance companies. Often times there are limitations in coverage which dictate amount and frequency of sessions. Third, you have greater control over who has access to information regarding your mental health treatment when you pay out of pocket. Lastly, there are no diagnosis codes that need to be submitted to insurance companies and no labels that get attached to your health record.
